The Harder They Come

Desde ayer he estado escuchando varios de los clásicos del buen reggae, como Peter Tosh, Burning Spear, Bob Marley y de quién les voy a comentar hoy, Jimmy Cliff (James Chambers) nació en Jamaica en el año 1948, se hizo famoso por canciones como "Sittin' in Limbo", "You Can Get It If You Really Want" o "Many Rivers to Cross", y por la canción que les traigo hoy, "The Harder They Come", que pertenece a la banda sonora de la pelicula con el mismo nombre, donde también actúo Jimmy.

La banda sonora de esta película permitió introducir la musica reggae en muchos mercados a nivel mundial. Esta canción "The Harder They Come" tiene un gran mensaje, mientras más nos traten de detener o hacer daño mas fuertes tenemos que ser, no dejemos que otros nos humillen ni nos hagan sus esclavos, luchemos por nuestros derechos y por lo que queremos sin que nadie nos detenga...como en alguna parte de la cancion dice: "...prefiero ser un hombre libre en mi tumba, que vivir como una marioneta o un esclavo..."

Otra de sus grandes canciones protesta es "Vietnam", Bob Dylan dijo que es la mejor cancion de protesta que ha escuchado, habla sobre las tantas historias de personas que fueron a "combatir" en una guerra que no era de ellos y por lo cual murieron sin siquiera saber porque estaban allá, dejando a sus familias con un vacío que nunca podra ser llenado. Cosa que hasta el día de hoy, nosotros los humanos o la "sociedad" como se hace llamar, no ha entendido y seguimos cometiendo los mismos errores día tras día. Cuando entendamos que la solución no es matarnos unos a otros ese día comenzaremos a vivir como humanos, por ahora solo somos animales (sin intención de ofender....a los animales)
